GreenMama asked:
My kids have at least two of the toys on the list, but they were sold a year to 6months before the recall. Almost every plastic toy we have is made by a Mattel company and made in China!!!! This worries me because they do have some lead in their blood.
It is really scary, especially when you look at your children’s toys and they are made in China and a Mattel brand. I don’t know if you can use the lead test sold at the hardware store to check toys for lead paint, but it may be worth a try.
I agree with bufalvo, but it’s going to be hard because every plastic toy in the house has been made in China!!!
I just read on the Oregon state website that you can test toys with standard lead test!!! Good Luck!

I called my doctor this morning and got tests for all of my children. I am especially concerned with my one year old since everything goes into her mouth. I am not sure if they will test older toys but I am taking everything away that was made in China. In my opinion the only reason Mattel found the contamination was because of everything else that has come from China that has been contaminated recently. Companies are probably on the look out because of lawsuits, if the other companies had not had the problems Mattel would probably never even have thought of it. To me this means that there were probably toys that had lead based paint before these recalls but nobody inspected them properly because no one was getting caught.

My grandkids have Mattel toys so I went to the website and clicked the recall link. I was VERY disappointed in the way they had handled it. Gave just three pictures then a bunch of model numbers and a “click here” to help you determine blah blah blah
Having grown up when lead paint was in very wide use, as well as lead water pipes, I am not too worried. I don’t know of a single actual case of any harm (I don’t think I do anyway).
Mattel very poor PR……I think I will use this as a great excuse to thin out the toys and make more room in the house.
Just went through this same thing with the Thomas and Friends stuff from China.
Most of the stuff you buy today is pretty crappy, if it doesn’t break then you have to throw it away for some other reason. Maybe this is just a way to sell more junk…
